Even though the visions were cool and all in the book, but i understand why D&D simplified them in the show now that we are in season 6.
Not everything that will happen according to the HOTU visions in the book will happen on the show. And beside, showing the visions on-screen would be hella' hard to do without spoiling major plot points.
I believe show version of the HOTU vision is enough to foreshadow the future of Westeros, the ending of the series, and the symbolism with the visons and prophecies regarding Dany. Like the snow at King's Landing, obviously foreshadowing the invasion of the White Walkers to take over Westeros. Dany at the Wall could means she have to fight the White Walkers. And the final one with Dany, Drogo and her son, while it's there to trap Dany in the vision, i do believe that it represent Dany's desire: home. Interesting, i read an analysis about Dany that if you think about it, she never have a home. Since her birth, she went place to place with Viserys to escape from Robert. She spend all her life in Essos and never witness Westeros for herself. And evident in the book where Dany dream of being at home where it has a lemon tree. So in this sense where Dany wanted to take back what is "hers", truthfully she doesn't want the Iron Throne nor reclaim the Targaryen legacy. She only wanted the Iron Throne just so to give her a sense of home as what Viserys wanted. The only time Dany felt happy is when she spend he life with Drogo.
So in the end, this is one of the reasons why i think Dany will never win the Iron Throne and that she will reunite with Drogo and her stillborn son in the Night's Lands.
