kingeomer I think the variable that is messing things up for me, is the unreliability of the Northern Lords. They are making it out as if they are as fluctuating and fluid as Southern lords. This isn't supposed to be true. They should be absolutely loyal to Jon, and i think this is seriously undermining the impact of Jon's crowning in season 6. He has been a bad King, but he hasn't gone back on his word that his most important goal is to protect everyone from the Night King. Since Sansa is Lady of Winterfell, they should be (and appear to be) loyal to her, however they are making it out as if Littlefinger could sway them to be on his side. It also irks me how Sansa hasn't figured littlefinger out - i think Arya just did. She was never going to kill Sansa, she just wants her to be honest once in her life- like she wasn't honest and got Lady and the butcher's boy killed. These things meant a lot to Arya and she hasn't forgotten.
stoneheartsrevenge i never really thought about it, but you're right in that the Night's King could know events of the future just like the 3ER/Bran. It doesn't make sense for the NK and his WW buddies to be standing there when each one of them could have thrown a spear and killed the dragons in one fell swoop. But then again, we know little about their motivations, or if they even have any. They could just be a product of what the COTF made them, cold, dead things- a weapon of war with no conscience. I think the tension between Arya and Sansa was born out of something quite stupid but it sort of makes sense. This is one big whole test to see if Sansa is still the same person. Also can't answer your last sentence, it doesn't make sense to me either lol
Father of Dragons I'm ashamed to say i'm starting to really like Dany and Jon together There's a really great chemistry there. But i also think their relationship makes sense. They are people who have faced death and come out alive on the other side. They are two people afraid to show their emotions, except around the few people they trust. They let themselves have a brief show of intimacy because there is love there, which is why Dany almost flinches away when she realises her feelings and how Jon brings out this vulnerability in her. Because she is so used to being this Queen who has to put aside her own wants, needs and emotions for her people. Also it makes sense that Jon makes up a cute nickname, because people who like each other do that. (doesn't make it any less cringe-worthy or awkward flirty but there it is)
Everything beyond the wall was incredible, but Winterfell was a mess and it dragged the episode down quite a bit for me.
Also, and I'm afraid I'm gonna be lynched for this, even though I liked the scene between Dany and Jon, when he called her Dany, I cringed a little bit. It didn't feel right.
I have loved every one of their scenes before this. And although I enjoyed the scene itself, Jon calling her Dany felt so contrived. She even says the last person who called her that was her brother, so why the hell would Jon call her that? It felt like it was just put in for the shippers (which is why I'm very hesitant to say this on the other forum for fear of being fucking slaughtered).

Yeah, me too. I said it anyway, because I'm a rebel ... or something
I've nothing against the scene itself. I actually thought it was pretty fucking great! But Jon calling her Dany out of nowhere felt super forced, and Kit's delivery of that line wasn't all that great either. That was definitely in there for the shippers, and for people to go "aawwww". Didn't work for me, and it kind of took me out of the moment.
I think I would probably be considered too much of a Debbie Downer/'butt hurt' book fan to post over there at all Criticism doesn't seem particularly welcome and I haven't been overly positive this season I liked the Jon and Dany scene because it was such a step in in terms of acting quality for Emilia. I agree Jon calling her Dany was cringe-y but it wasn't too much for me. I don't like them together (because I find Jon too boring ) but I don't hate the idea either. Interesting comments from Alan Taylor regarding Jon/Dany and some stuff GRRM said in season 1. Don't have the link to hand but it's interesting stuff. I can imagine the reaction of the folk who used to argue till they were blue in the face that this story was never about Dany or the Targa and they were just a distraction/red herring. Like wtf people, this mental gymnastics is exhausting
Guys, my heart is literally going to explode. I don't think my body can handle the hype.
If Littlefinger's imminent death and Cleganebowl are in the same episode you'll enter a state of total shock
Guys I genuinely think I was on to something with this. Things are heating up in Winterfell, and one of Sansa, Arya and Littlefinger is going to die. And the Hound is headed to King's Landing.
This is insane because I've never correctly predicted something before. I think I'll be the one entering a state of total shock.

Sometimes I think they don't even like the books over there lol
It's not the books they dislike, but GRRM himself. But even then it's only a few people that have a lot of disain and ingratitude for him. There's plenty people there who enjoy the books just as much - they even have more book threads than we do here
Beyond throwing paper into fans, McCann said the rest of the cast and crew (“apart from me”) passed their time playing Risk, the geography-based game of strategy—perhaps the Game of Thrones version? But while McCann abstained from board games, he did participate in the nightly musical jams led by Richard Dormer (Beric Dondarrion) on the ukulele and Paul Kaye (Thoros of Myr) on the guitar. Calling themselves the Brotherhood without Banjos, the group was joined by McCann—who sings, plays piano, mandolin, and, yes, the banjo.
I need to see this now
... Die-hard fans who still believe that someday, Sandor Clegane (The Hound) will square off against his brother Gregor Clegane (the Mountain) in an epic clash, are holding out hope for the long-wished Cleganebowl. The Mountain, surely, will be by Queen Cersei’s side if she’s going to meet up with a Dragon Queen bearing a zombie in a box. Alas, for all of you dying for a brother vs. brother clash, McCann isn’t so optimistic. He dismissively refers to the fan theory as “that Cleganebowl shite.”
Someone pointed out about a certain poor guy fighting off air in the background.
Yeah one of the anonymous 'spear carriers' , noticed that. The number of those guys seemed to keep changing it was hard to keep count. Were those guys the rest of the Brotherhood?
dany really needs to train with her dragons to avoid arrows and shit
She should be doing that next episode.
I did see the Alan Taylor comments mentioned above. He said initially, in season 1, he thought the show/ books were about Ned and Robb (if I was writing them Alan, they would have been, but my thoughts aside...DUH.) and GRRM said they were always about Dany and Jon. When I was reading that, I was thinking, didn't everyone think that right away or at least by the end of the first book?

Less so with Jon, I think (he really came more to prominence is subsequent books). And of course you underestimate the power of being stubborn and not wanting to admit that a character you don't like might be important to the story. Dany has always been one of the fandom's punching bags (along with Cat, Sansa and to a slightly lesser degree Stannis) but I think she isn't the only one where ' every ever seen the argument that everything means the opposite when applied to her. Sweetness means sweet, unless it's Dany and it's bad. The Wall means the Wall, unless it involves Dany and then it means never going North. Some of the mental gymnastics I've seen over the years was hilarious really

Also I guess Benjen really was a Coldhands stand in on the show, just showing up in different places and meeting the same ultimate fate (presumably). In the book he escorts Sam and Gilly from Whittree to the Wall, but cannot pass because he is dead. In the show he escorts Bran from the Cave to the Wall but cannot pass because he is dead. In the book he gets Bran to the Cave then seemingly goes down in a blaze of glory giving a Stark time to escape to relative safety. In the show he shows up last minute to save a Stark and give them a chance to escape to relative safety. I'd say he is a fairly good fit as a book-show translation.
Note that this doesn't mean I think Benjen=Coldhands in the books. I don't. I think Coldhands is done with the story now, and was just a wight controlled by Bloodraven. Doesn't seem much reason not to reveal he is Benjen if he actually was.

Yeah they called him Coldhands in the Inside the Episode, but I'm guessing he's just an combination of the two, and they're separate in the books.

They call him that on this week's Inside the Episode you mean? (I don't generally watch them so don't know if you meant her either or last season). I think there will be a lot of combining and condensing of characters on the show that will become apparent if/when we get the conclusion in the books. Aegon, JonCon and the Golden Company seem to have been shared out among several characters for example - unclear how much exactly, but there are certainly things to pick up on. When both books and show are complete I'll be very interested going back to see what made it direct from the book plots, what's made it in a modified form, and what was scrapped or invented just form the show.
