Tatiana deserves all the Emmys and honestly it's criminal she's been shut out by then so far. And as much as I love Viola Davis, it's even more criminal that she beat Tatiana at the SAG awards in January Although SAG is so populist that Tatiana was really just lucky to be nominated and she was probably last, or near the bottom, of the ballot anyway, but still.

I binged the first two seasons of this show over the hiatus, so this premiere was the first ep I watched live. I hope Sarah's latest fight with Mrs. S. doesn't last too long. Their complicated family dynamic is one of my favorite parts of the show.

Damn, that episode was good. The last scene at Felix's was so suspenseful, was not expecting that at all.
ALISON AND DONNIE, BECOMING PRESCRIPTION DRUG DEALERS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA.

And the saga of Alison and Donnie's life of crime continues, lol.
Was not expecting one of the Castor clones to die that way.

"Season 3's second episode of Orphan Black was a classic give-and-take episode, as some storylines began taking shape while others floundered."
"Project Castor remains somewhat stagnant in terms of creating intrigue. While we are slowly finding out more about their cause, the characters themselves are pretty bland -- especially now that Paul's involved. Oh, Paul -- ever bland but ever present."
"Overall, this episode was good but not great; Season 3 still needs a hook."
Pretty much agree with these points here. I did enjoy this episode way more than the premiere though.

Donnie "fist me"
Alison "fist you...?"
Donnie "what, that's a saying"
Lol, Alison's scheme to get elected is even better than I imagined. Maslany said Alison is probably the craziest character, on a show with Helena that's pretty messed up lol.

loving the season so far. The male clones are starting to get interesting as we get to know them. but i still don't really care about the main one. Good to see Art again! and Kal being perfect as always Helena's pregnant? i thought she couldn't get pregnant... I wonder what will happen with the prolithians next episode...

For whatever reason during the cloning process, the DNA sequence that causes the clones to be barren was missing for Sarah and since in indentical twins the egg splits after being fertilized, Helena also was born without the sequence.

Yeh for some reason i thought they established in season 1 that helena couldn't conceive. maybe that was a lie told to her or something.

^I don't think it was a lie, I just think they didn't know that she could. At that point they didn't know she was a twin to the only known clone to have a baby, so I think saying she was also barren would have been a safe assumption.

But if Helena is Sarah's identical twin, why the reversed organs?

But if Helena is Sarah's identical twin, why the reversed organs? They're mirror image twins. Normally that just affects physical appearances and one twin will be left-handed and the other right-handed, but in rare cases the organs can be flipped as well. John and Graeme talked about it after the Season 2 premiere. They also said they established that Helena is left-handed in the first season. www.ew.com/article/2014/04/26/orphan-black-creators-episode-2-helena

That organ thing is a thing in reality?
But how could they be essentially opposites of each other if the genes are absolutely identical? Identical twins do have the exact same properties and genetic diseases and everything that can be traced to genes. They just change and go other ways when they leave the womb (or when they first split in two individuals). Before that they would be the same.

It happens when the egg splits later than it usually would. I'm not an expert in genetics, but I think DNA really only controls how things work/develop, so if a cell split (or in this case embryo) split in such a way that they were a mirror image rather than a copy then they would just continue to develop in exactly the same manner, only as a mirror image.

But if you say it has been established that they are identical twins (from same egg), then it is an in-universe fact and part of the story telling, so my arguing over the reality in it is just arguing against the given plot.
And every story about cloning has it's own ideas and in-universe facts and what is in the realm of the possible anyway.

Having that weird mirror image glitch doesn't change that. And that weird glitch is possible in real life. Like I said, it can happen if the egg splits too late. They're still identical (monozygotic) twins.
