Really liked Joker. Phoenix was scary good. like Enid said he makes you feel kind of bad for him while still being completely freaked out. it has this weird effect where i can't help but wonder how much of that could have been avoided if people were just nicer to him, which i am guessing is the intended effect. I like how it remixed the batman origin without making it a batman origin film. if that makes sense.

this Watchmen show on HBO confuses me. They keep insisting it's not an adaptation of the graphic novel. Instead, it picks the story up 30 years after the events of the book. BUT, it's not a sequel, they insist on calling it a "remix"... So what the fuck is it?? It sounds to me like a sequel story, but they said it isn't. idk i'm lost. now they’re calling it an “extrapolation” and an “amplification” bro what

It’s not that this movie looks bad, I’m sure it’ll be a fun popcorn movie.
But it’s just so out of nowhere. HQ has nothing to do with the Birds of Prey, who could easily carry their own movie. Harley Quinn has totally eclipsed the titular characters in their movie, she just doesn’t need to be there. And that’s coming from a massive harley fan lol.
This is just a cash grab smh

Gonna start watching Marianne on Netflix tomorrow- apparently its good and actually scary.
Then I'm thinking of starting Succession on HBO. Has anyone watched that? I haven't really heard anything about it good or bad, but it looks to be my sort of thing.

i just liked that it was different. it was a big diversion from the comics, which makes lots of people uncomfortable because nerds don't like change, but i thought it was a welcome switch-up. i know it was controversial due the whole abuse conversation, but i was just glad to see something new lol.the whole "harley being a lovesick punching bag" thing got old in like 2002. and yeah poison ivy is overdue, especially since harley is such a big character. harley being in the birds of prey makes literally zero sense to begin with. it should have been the team up of her, ivy, and catwoman that actually makes logical sense. but, as much as i adore margot and her performance, i don't think she actually really gets harley. which becomes a problem now that she has so much creative control. and that's how we end up with something like Harley Quinn being in the Birds of Prey.... I agreed that Harley being a punching bag does gets old and the Batman animated series did a great job with that. But I wish the movie acknowledge that their relationship is abusive since they were never meant to be healthy at all. The only thing i'm interest is seeing other female characters like Black Canary, Babara, and Cassandra Cain. I don't care for Harley since they constantly pushed her popularity in out faces, and I know they will definitely do that. Edit: However, part of me wish that Birds of Prey do well so that hopefully we could get a film on Gotham City Sirens and have Harley, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman together. i don't think gotham city sirens is in the cards for us anymore, sadly. reeves is using catwoman in his movies, which appear to be a whole separate thing from the rest of the dceu (or at least that's what it seems like, no one really knows what the deal is there lol)

Ehh I'm on the opposite fence with Joker and Herley's relationship in the movie. Their relationship was never suppose to be healthy, but the movie glossed over that very easily in favor of the "evil" duo fanservice. I mean for fuck sake, the Joker electrocute Harley in that flashback. Batman's cameo is definitely cool tho. Edit: Just thinking about it makes me want Poison Ivy in the DCEU. i just liked that it was different. it was a big diversion from the comics, which makes lots of people uncomfortable because nerds don't like change, but i thought it was a welcome switch-up. i know it was controversial due the whole abuse conversation, but i was just glad to see something new lol.the whole "harley being a lovesick punching bag" thing got old in like 2002. and yeah poison ivy is overdue, especially since harley is such a big character. harley being in the birds of prey makes literally zero sense to begin with. it should have been the team up of her, ivy, and catwoman that actually makes logical sense. but, as much as i adore margot and her performance, i don't think she actually really gets harley. which becomes a problem now that she has so much creative control. and that's how we end up with something like Harley Quinn being in the Birds of Prey....

I just love the whole Joker/Harley dynamic and the way they were characterized. And I loved the Batman cameos.
