David Benioff doesn't care about direwolves.

It has been very clear that the only scenes they can shoot correctly with the Direwolves are when they're stationary (while growling menacingly perhaps) or a quick blink or you'll miss it flash of them across the screen during an attack. Anything else is beyond them.
I'm not sure why people think that the show is actively deciding not to include them for any other reason than they're impossible to animate realistically for any kind of sustained action. Everyone has seen the wolves on Twilight right? Do we really want that on the show just so we can say that the Direwolves are part of the action?

Singer of Death LF can be seen in the aerial shot when Jon is beating Ramsay, after he stops when he sees Sansa. Ah i see, thank you. It would have been a better strategy for rickon to hide behind one of the Bolton crosses. Doubt it would work considering the Bolton cross are burning and if Rickon were to stand behind them, this would give open up more opportunity to get him kill. Plus how far were the Bolton crosses cause if they are far, Rickon need lots of stamina to get to it. only seen the battle once but i'm sure he passed them because he met jon half way. The immediate danger was avoiding an arrow, the field was huge so even that might not have worked and it would mean he'd be running for longer. Once the battle started he'd be in danger but i guess he was anyway i know they wanted to kill him off so it had to happen

He's just a kid, guys. He's probably not had much tactical training, and you're not always thinking clearly in such a panicked situation.

Anyways I don't think Ramsay was actually trying to hit him until the very right moment anyways. The point was to draw Jon as far out as possible.

Yes, Ramsay missed his first few shots on purpose.

BTW how cool would it be if the Lannisters had giant lions to hang out and protect them. I'd pay to see that. Me-wow!

But they are able to animate dragons, armies, ships, giants, castles, etc. I kind of refuse to believe they couldn't do a direwolf right if they decided to do it. Maybe that will be the sort of payoff we get in Season 7/8 with shorter a episode count per season. The director said he was "there in spades" originally, so they at least considered it.

Ghost is just doing ghost things. I doubt he is at the wall. Bringing a direwolf to a battle like that would not be good.

I don't recap the show anymore, but I will write something in Friday post I'm from Philly area so I'm going to have say "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO". (We booed Santa Claus). Okay Philly represent!!! He's just a kid, guys. He's probably not had much tactical training, and you're not always thinking clearly in such a panicked situation. Exactly! Did you see the look of disbelief Rickon gave Ramsey when he cut him loose and said run to your brother? Keep in mind he was young when he lost his family and home, I highly doubt he was given much tactical training and in a situation like that one, it's easy to forget what you know. Rickon was trying to get to Jon ASAP.

He wasn't cut for the story and for all we know maybe he'd survive (I mean Jon did). He was cut because they decided to focus on the other special effect character (Wun-Wun).

I think they made the right decision. Ghost would have been targeted and easily killed. Jon had pretty thick plot armour but ghost doesn't. Plus wolves are hard to CGI, and there was already so much of that going on.
