I thought it would be nice to have a separate thread for Emmy talk like we did last year. (Mods, feel free to move this to Gen if it belongs there instead)
Here's what they submitted:
Supporting actor: Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
Supporting actress: Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Carice van Houten, Maisie Williams
Guest actor: Max von Sydow
Writing: “Battle of the Bastards” (David Benioff and Dan Weiss). The submission even includes a cryptic description: “Terms of surrender are rejected and accepted.”
Directing: “Battle of the Bastards” (Miguel Sapochnik), “Book of the Stranger” (Dan Sackheim), “Home” (Jeremy Podeswa), No One” (Mark Mylod), “The Door” (Jack Bender).
Editing: “Battle of the Bastards,” “Home,” “Oathbreaker”
Costumes: “The Winds of Winter” (which also includes a description – “Cersei faces her trial”).
Visual Effects: “The Battle of the Bastards”
Outstanding Cinematography: “Home,” “Oathbreaker,” “The Door,” “The Broken Man,” “The Winds of Winter”
Outstanding Production Design: “Blood of My Blood,” “The Broken Man,” “No One”
Sound Editing: “The Door”
Sound Mixing: “Battle of the Bastards”
Hairstyling, Makeup: “The Door,” “Battle of the Bastards”
What do you think? Would you make any changes? (I would, where the hell is Alfie Allen?)

Lena Headey really deserves some recognition this year.

I would make some changes (granted I am basing this on 8 episodes so far), I'll focus on acting since the tech awards are out of my depth.
Supporting actor: Keep NCW. I suppose episodes 7 or 8 might be his submissions. Dump Peter...unless he has something spectacular in episodes 9 or 10, there is nothing Emmy worthy there. Swap in Liam Cunningham, who could probably submit episodes 1 or 2. Dump Kit Harington, swap in Alfie Allen and submit either the Kingsmoot scene or the goodbye to Sansa/Winterfell escape episode (#1?)
Supporting actress: Even though I'm not a huge fan of Emilia's acting, she's shoo-in for a nod, so she is keep here. I am pretty sure her submissions so far could be the emerging from the fire episode, the speech on top of the dragon episode and possibly more. It's been a strong season for her. Lena has done well and is always good, I just don't think Cersei has had much to work with yet, but maybe a future episode( her trial?) allows her to shine. She should have won last year. Maisie has also had a good season, her acting has been good even when parts of her storyline were completely unbelievable. She could submit the last two episodes and the episode where she first watched the play. Sophie, I have not been fond of the writing for Sansa this season but I'll say keep. I can't see her getting nominated anyway. Her work was good in episodes 1 & 2. Carice, definitely for the first three episodes...especially episode 1. I would do an honorable mention for Gemma Whalen and I might swap her for Sophie (Sophie fans don't kill me). I'm okay with all of their submissions for actress.
I would have added Ian Mc Shane for Guest Actor.

Thank God Carice is nominated. Even though she's been criminally underused so far, she has just stolen every scene she's in. Her emo phase was fantastic, and her age reveal when Mel just looked so vulnerable and despondent...chills.

I also agree with everyone that Alfie should have been submitted, but Theon isn't a big enough character nor is Alfie a big enough name for it to be worth the effort and money. For that reason I would also drop Carice, as much as I love her and as awesome as she has been, whereas it's possible for the rest of them.

Would have had Jonathan Pryce in whichever category it is he fits in (is he supporting or guest?) I would also not have nominated Dinklage, but I'm unsurprised they did. Would also dump Kit Harrington who has quite frankly been a yawn making bore of bores in terms of acting this season, and sub in Alfie Allen. Supporting actress I would sub in Gemma Whalen for either Sophie or Maisie. Both Sophie and Maisie have been good, but not good enough for an award, IMO. I'm not going to comment on the more technical awards because I don't have a clue what they really mean...

After having seen Snowbowl episode,mi would not have nominated it for best writing. I have said elsewhere that the strength of this episode is mostly visual, and it's actually rather weak in terms of writing. There are much better episodes in terms of writing that could be nominated this season, imo

I have said elsewhere that the strength of this episode is mostly visual, and it's actually rather weak in terms of writing. There are much better episodes in terms of writing that could be nominated this season, imo Especially since it featured some really cliche moments. This is the third battle scene that ended with a last minute save from another army. It was also the first major conflict between entirely black and white heroes and villains. The other battles had sympathetic character on both sides, but this time around it was much less complicated. Sure, the audience deserved a win, but I'm starting to wonder if the writers killed off so many characters and made the first part of the season so miserable to justify this crowd pleasing episode. It was fine entertainment, but the opposite of what appealed to me about the tone of ASOIAF.

What is also weird as fuck is BotB is not even submitted for cinematography. Who chose those? The marketing interns? Irish Thrones?

I would've submitted The Door for writing over The Battle of the Bastards.

I agreed with those who said the Door would have been a better choice. In my opinion, it's the best episode in season 6.

I don't understand why Cunningham wasn't submitted Now that the season is over, while Dinklage had some good acting moments in episodes 9 and 10, I really don't think he or Harington were worthy of a nomination submission. Cunningham should have been submitted over either one of them.
