The Benjen reveal should have been played up and used as final scene. Dany was nice and all, but repetitive. The Benjen reveal was the bigger deal here. I agree it's a much bigger deal to US ... we're book fanatics. The general show audience loves Daenerys and Jon Snow who have both been played up as the main heroes the past two seasons so that's likely why they chose Dany's Drogo speech for the final scene. I loved it but agree it probably wasn't necessary since her Khalasar already worships her after her fire-walker trick. Still ... I ain't complaining at getting to see massive Drogon - that was amazing. He's Balerion the Black Dread Reborn!!

Don't wanna be a party pooper, but some folks have asked us not to change our avatars to something that gives away a spoiler until...was it 24 hours after the episode airs? This is correct. Please change it Nezzer.

We had to see how Bran and Meera survived. Benjen was only revealed to Bran and Meera in the second scene towards the end of the episode. If they had played up that scene and made it more dramatic/emotional, that could have easily been the ending of the episode.

I think she might be part of Bran being ready.

She aint got a 1000 boats, Meereen ain't got a 1000 boats, even the Ironborn don't got a 1000 boats, combined slavers might, and I think Braavos does, but how the hell does that work?

Your avatar is top notch. Always liked Joseph Mawle and glad to see him back. I hope we see more of Benjen this season. I imagine we'll see him up to the point he gets Bran and Meera to the wall - but as Coldhands could not pass the wall's magical wards nor can Benjen ... Bran was marked by Night's King though. Doesn't that mean that the warranty on those wards is voided the second he passes through?

Following her around Essos is one thing, but she's asking them to do something no Dothraki has ever done, cross the poison water and fight in Westeros. I thought the scene worked well. Nice throwback to Drogo's speech. Dany has 100k bloodriders though.

Oh come on guys that Dany ending was great and I'm not even a big fan of hers. The dragon riding looked pretty fantastic here. It was significant because she's taking that big thing to Westeros and (*ahem* burn them all) she's going to be burning a lot of dead things. I know we all know this but it complemented the wight-burning and Bran-premonition stuff pretty well I think.
Plus those Dothraki are coming to Westeros. Hide your kids, hide your smallfolk.

Yeah I think that's the popular theory among most of us ... that Bran crossing the wall will break the magical wards. Benjen wouldn't know that though, would he? He'll have to turn back ... unless it all happens at the same time however, and then maybe he'll cross the wall and continue on with Bran. That would rock!

My circle of friends largely consists of show-only fans and all of them have theorized about Benjen over and over again. Believe me, it's also the bigger deal for them, especially because it was something new, instead of badass Dany moment Vol. 45. They just needed to make the reveal more effective than it was.

Was that from the pilot or was it reshot? Looked like it was Nikolaj playing Jaime with short hair so probably reshot. Seems like David Rintoul is the actor playing the Mad King, not sure if he's the same guy from the pilot here. It was a different actor. The pilot was shot on film so it would've been quite jarring if anything from it was included amongst the 1080p digital shot footage. And yeah that was NCW, in Targ KG armour. There's a shot of him sitting on the IT in there too, albeit in shadows to conceal his actual age.

LOL... loved that one. Daenerys is going to have a mighty hard time convincing her Dothraki not to rape and pillage. But then again, the fucking Westerosi assholes rape and pillage anyways (thanks Gregor Clegane you monster).

Hide your kids, hide your smallfolk. that's a good way of putting it. I also though (as I mentioned above) that it seemed important that Dany's scene would come after Benjen's scene, about being prepared which I'm sure having three fire breathing dragons can really help with.

The shots of wildfire have yet to appear in the series. The Mad King never actually blew anything up. So I think we are seeing the future there....
