They are meant to be I agree that is a parallel but I really dislike it. It looks like Sansa lost her entire innocence That moment back in season 2 was so cute and happy this is just steeped in darkness. Well after so many shits Sansa endured, could you blame her? Plus i could see Book!Sansa going to this path as well considering she's influenced by Littlefinger and is planning to poison Sweetrobin. Plenty of people endured horrible things and they didn't let it affect their nature. For me that smirk was too much. Arya didn't smirk when she killed Merryn Trant. Catelyn didn't smirk when Jaime and Tyrion were captured. This shows she is taking pleasure in violence and cruelty and that to me goes against everything Sansa was shown to be in the last 5 seasons. Well after so many shits Sansa endured, could you blame her? Plus i could see Book!Sansa going to this path as well considering she's influenced by Littlefinger and is planning to poison Sweetrobin. Yeah, I think part of why we've struggled so much as a community to deal with Sansa's character is that she could be going the Littlefinger/Cersei route instead of the Catelyn route. She has the potential to go either way. If you think about it, we could be seeing how a Cersei is made...the hurts one has to endure to become so cruel. It's not how I'd like to see Sansa's character end up, but it could be where she's headed.I think Cersei was always cruel and enjoyed others suffering. She killed her friend when she was little. Catelyn was always harboring hatred and rage and after she return it was what was left. But Sansa was shown to be good, almost impossibly innocent person. Now she is smirking like Cersei would. To me that's very jarring and depressing to watch

To me that's very jarring and depressing to watch I think Cersei became cruel after her mom died. For little innocent baby Cersei NOT handling that event in her life well at all, nope, not ever. After their mom was gone and Tywin went cold, and all the kind, loving, feminizing elements were gone from the Lannister home, Cersei clung to fear and hatred. Jaime clung to Cersei. I hope Sansa never truly becomes villainous. She has clearly already become ruthless.

Honestly, i prefer Sansa this way. It would be unrealistic for her to stay innocent and not have a least some sense of viciousness within her. Heck, she got rape after escaped from KL and the husband she loathed just killed her little brother. How can Sansa not be stay good after that?

I think that Sansa is still a good person but she's not innocent any more, that was beaten out of her. She has been changed by her experiences and I think that an important character growth.

Can't find the gif but the moment where Jon, Tormund and Wun Wun are running towards Winterfell reminded me of this: At Hardhome they were running away from the enemy, but at Winterfell they were charging straight for him.

And a great, fantastic analysis from Tumblr shows the meaning of the armillary sphere that is shown in the title sequence.

This is really amazing. I love details well hidden in plain sight like this so the fact that this thing is actually in opening credits AND those things we see on it are not accidental was by far the most impressive thing in the finale for me.
