Well we could probably go back to every previous trailer and find some type of misleading edit. All we know is that Mel gets nekkid this season, which is not unusual. And to be fair, some of her sorcery in past seasons has been oversexualized, but some of her nude scenes(season 4) weren't sexual at all. Not sure how Jon will be brought to life. In the show they took out the kiss of life and had Thoros do a little prayer, which was kind of underwhelming and not very dramatic. Maybe they will overcompensate and have Mel do some crazy shit while naked. Or maybe she'll fail and the Night's King will bring him back, after all, the show made a point of showing he has that ability in season 5. Those would be super different scenarios, don't ya think? Being brought back to life via the Red God instead of as a zombie? I don't think D&D are gonna shy away from anything taboo. They have Carice of the perfect body who is willing to get nekkid all day, and they have this really hot dead guy with nice hair. You know what's gonna happen. I still wish he'd warg. I think that will happen in the books, but not seeing it here. Of course. But I've always liked the theories of Jon becoming a villain or the White Walkers being less two-dimensionally evil as we thought. Perhaps there's a way to revive Jon without turning him into a wight. If a mortal like Thoros can do it, I don't see why a White Walker might not possess such an ability. Think about how cool it might be for the Night's King to use Jon as his messenger and representation in Westeros. One of Jon's major arcs was uniting the Wildlings and Night's Watch. He's basically fiction's sexiest diplomat. I don't know what the heck is going to happen, just that Jon's part in the story does not seem finished. I don't think it's about shying away from taboo, I just think it'd be physically impossible for Mel to have sex with Jon's corpse.

All this discussion just reminded me that I have no idea what's going to happen this year.

So, are we going to guess whose corpse is flayed and burning upside down in the trailer? Or is that too depressing to contemplate?

Certainly the feeling I got. And it makes sense that they would want to mistreat his body, given who he was. Fucking Boltons. It also crossed my mind that it could be Theon, but I doubt he dies this season. Don't spoil me!

After what show Stannis did to Shireen I wouldn't give 2 shits what they do to his corpse. I don't think it's Stannis though. Unless they sewed him back up. Someone as strong as Brienne swinging a Valyrian steel sword should have done some serious damage.

What he did to Shireen and the others he burned was beyond forgiveness, it's true. But I still don't hate him because I think he honestly believed he had to do those things to save the world. He gave his only daughter to save the world. Or so he thought. He was wrong.

When I first saw the scene with him burning Shireen, I hated him. Absolutely hated him, more than any other character in the show. Then I thought, and I see him now as a man blindly convinced of having a destiny to fulfill, with the overwhelming weight on his shoulders to save not only his soldiers, but his kingdom and the world, and willing to make the sacrifices necessary. Obviously the decision was terrible and he ended up paying for it with his life. But I do not hate now. I have come to understand him and even pity him a little, even when I'll miss Shireen so much.

I really, really hated him, too, and I still hate him. I kind of agree with @nictarion . But on the other hand, I also kind of agree with you. He's a tragic character who did horrible, horrible things, although he had the right intentions.

He's a tragic character who did horrible, horrible things, although he had the right intentions. Exactly! Stannis' downfall was a combination of factors. His own messianic attitute, his hubris, his blind faith in his own judgment, his utilitarian view of the world... And of course, the manipulations from Melisandre. He was punished by the irony of fate, because as the ice melted (the same ice that had kept the Bolton quartered and whose melting allowed them to attack in full force) and he knew that the battle was lost, his last hours became a hell on earth. He knew he had sacrificed what he loved most in the world for nothing. So I pity him.

I liked 5x10 so much and one reason was how Stannis just accepted his fate and died with dignity. It was the most in-character death ever.

Yes! Amazing acting from Stephen Dillane here. That face of despair and resignation when the battle begins and he understand the magnitude of the mistake he has made, is hard to watch... And "Go on, do your duty" are the perfect final words for Stannis. It sums up in just a few words all about his character... both the good and the bad.

The Boltons don't kill important people very often. They are bullies who have made some cunning plays in the game. Their biggest triumph was a betrayal against the Starks, who trusted them. They mostly exert brutality against those who are weaker rather than pick fights with more powerful enemies. The players are still mostly concerned with the South. I don't see anybody important venturing to Winterfell, except for maybe Littlefinger to see WTF happened to Sansa. So either they betray Littlefinger, burn Stannis' corpse, or they are just fucking with locals.
