Hibberd is a good resource to follow because he gives you little things sometimes. But he should have followed up the showrunners statements with GRRM direct quotes. He's article title is full of shit.

Y'all are dragging them too hard for saying there won't be spoilers. They're just trying to appeal to the book-bashers who are terrified of all the spoilers they're not going to be able to avoid.

I think there are some people who are genuine fans of both the books and the show, but want to experience the books first. So D&D are basically saying "guys, no need for that." Maybe it's less about criticism than about the actual fear of getting spoiled.
