I thought that was the town where the Greyjoy stuff was done but that's Ballintoy, so this is an entirely new set area in NI?Yeah. There's a pretty big castle there actually. But they don't normally use exterior shots of NI castles in the show, so my guess is they're either filming interiors inside the castle or they're filming in the forest on its grounds.
That is if they're not just in Glenarm Forest. www.walkni.com/walks/316/glenarm-forest-3-walks/

So it doesn't look like we will get more set scenes of Arya on the waterside of Braavos which was filmed in Croatia. This is curious to me because the building they used and did FX magic on is on that waterfront so that must mean we'll have no more House of Black and White exterior shots. I have to suspect those old Hi-res shots we saw of Arya holding Needle next to HoBaW that never appeared in any s5 episode are being kept for s6 if she retrieves Needle and LEAVES! *hopes and prays* I don't see why they can't find an equivalent waterfront in Spain for Braavos.

It appears that Glenarm Forest would make a nice Riverlands.

And I'm pretty sure there'll be some second unit stuff in Kastel Gomilica at least. But probably a bit more than that, some pickups and establishing shots etc. Even if they're only there for a day or two, I think we'll have to see this again for sure.
And the spot Arya got Needle from too, of course. But if Arya's more in the central areas of Braavos rather than more around the harbour in s6, it would make sense that they'd find a different location because Kastel Gomilica was only used for the coast area. They left the rest of Braavos (except for the area around the IBOB which was shot in Sibenik) untouched in s5.
It appears that Glenarm Forest would make a nice Riverlands. I think so too.

It appears that Glenarm Forest would make a nice Riverlands. Yep. We know that both the "hapless" Frey from the casting call and David Bradley are shooting this week.

Loving all the new info and speculation about these awesome locations. Season 6 is going to have more gorgeous scenery for sure!

Also in Glenarm we have this lovely medieval church. Now I doubt they'll actually do exterior shots of this place or the castle because they seem to do very little of that in the NI shoot. But it looks nice and they could be shooting inside or around there so I posted it anyways.

WotW seems to read our minds here! :-X We were discussing the lack of info on Croatia and they've written an article about it: watchersonthewall.com/game-of-thrones-returning-to-croatia-for-a-limited-time-only-filming-this-week-in-glenarm/#more-42433Nothing really exciting to report here other than no casting calls have been made for extras there, nor has HBO applied for filming time there yet, according to the guide for the tourist group that does the tours in Dubrovnik. They are just speculating at this point how long filming, if any, will be done in Croatia at this point. Maybe they have enough past footage of the outside areas to use for any short outdoor shots needed in Season 6? This really does make me lean towards a much more pared down / lessened King's Landing presence in season 6 which is odd considering how so many characters are coming to a point in that location and in the North respectively. We've had tons of filming info for the North, and for the exotic locales (Spain sets) ... but next to nothing for KL. This could also be hinging on Lena's break for maternity leave. Edit: It could also mean all the scenes for s6 (or most) are indoor sets which they don't have to be in Croatia to do.

GoT crews arriving in Almeria for start on the Spain sets! watchersonthewall.com/game-of-thrones-crew-arrives-in-almeria/#more-42305Some sort of 'circular foundation' being built ... (That location looks very Dothraki to me) Also I totally missed this one from awhile back, but they've linked another location previously released in Spain - Mesa Roldán along with the Castillo de Zafra we know will be the Tower of Joy. Any ideas what this Mesa Roldán might be used for? Obviously Deepwood Motte.

King's Landing is more or less emptied out of everyone except Cersei, Tommen and the Tyrells so I can see why they would be putting a lot more emphasis on other plotlines.
It's actually kind of hilarious how many characters are no longer in KL even since the Purple Wedding in S4.
Joffrey, Jaime, Brienne, Pod, Oberyn, Ellaria, Sansa, Tyrion, Varys, Tywin, Shae, Bronn, Meryn and Mace, all gone. And the only additions since then have been Kevan, Lancel, the High Sparrow and Gregor who are all very much supporting characters.

It's also worth noting just how much of KL and Braavos are done with CGI now. As this video demonstrates.

While I agree King's Landing has been emptied out and really only had Tyrells and Lannisters left - they both have unresolved issues with the High Sparrow and the trials don't they? Littlefinger may or may not be there, and Varys may or may not return. Seems there was a lot of hype built up for the trials and yet we saw nothing of Margaery or Loras towards the end of last season. It's right where we were left in the books for the most part.
Curious as to wtf is going to go on there now other than the trials. Not even fAegon is on the way in the show since he does not exist.

And other than the Sparrows I think the other storyline that will effect KL, I think, will be a potential war with Dorne which is in itself the show's simplification of what's likely to happen with the fAegon situation.

I just saw a WOTW comment that put the "they're shooting less in Croatia this year" stuff in more context. Apparently back in s3 they only shot there for a week as well because they had Morocco that year for the Dany stuff (and actually for two KL scenes too, the Margeary visiting the sept scene in ep. 301 and the Jaime, Bri and Qyburn arriving at KL scene in 310). I'd forgotten that but it shows that this isn't without precedent and doesn't mean that the show's relationship with their Croatian production partners is over or anything (which some people in the WOTW comments were speculating).

Right, I don't suspect anything's amiss, just that they won't need as much footage there this season. In one way I'm glad of that because I'd rather they focus on the other parts of the map and slow the fuck down with some of the missing details. But then I also want to know wtf is going to happen with the throne. We hadn't seen anything of Tommen, or Marg or Loras and Cersei's walk of Shame was the real central focus which they did really well plus introducing Frankengregor. All those years of speculating who exactly would fight in a trial by combat... finally might find out. And yes, Cleganebowl would be pretty damn cool esp now that we know quite a bit more of the missing Riverlands stuff is starting to gear up.

I wonder where they are shooting in November and December? Using only Spain and NI?
