This thread needs some love! I missed the first run of episodes 1 and 2, but I just caught up with episode 1 on 4oD and I really liked it. I'm going to watch 2 just now!

Ok I just watched the first episode and am downloading the others - I'm going to like this show! I love sci-fi and especially anything about creepy AI and androids and dystopian society and computers and... yeah! Ok well it's not really a dystopian society it's just our fucked up normal modern society on the brink of dystopia haha.

Watched episodes 2 and 3. Hooked. Really interesting plot. Just creepy enough to keep you a little weirded out while at the same time completely uncertain wtf is going on and if you're rooting for the synths or not! Love it so far. Recommended. The actors are doing a great job too.

Just got started on this yesterday. I'm part-way through ep. 104 now. So far it's great. I really like the story with William Hurt in particular and his new synth who answers to the health service and not to him. It makes for a pretty creepy dynamic.

Yeah that's a great story and I have a feeling we'll find out more about how / why this whole thing got started from that old guy since he was involved in their creation. Olyvar is his Synth "Odi" now ... and doing a pretty good job of being short on wiring haha.

Please tell me others are keeping up with this little gem The penultimate episode just aired here and I'm super-stoked for the finale and super-sad that after next week it's all over.

So it's really worth watching after all? I only watched the trailer and I thought it looked abysmal. Probably gonna check it out soon.

It's an interesting view on the dynamic between humans and machine and the dangers they pose to each other. My one criticism is probably that there is a little too much family drama when time could be better spent developing the mistrust/conflicts between those two parties, but I like what we've got.

I'll agree it's definitely worth watching if you're not already wrapped up in something else this summer. I was getting a little annoyed with the last two episodes due to that drama you mentioned - excellent point! - But a couple of things snagged my attention back (not going to post spoilers) and I was hooked again! That episode 7 last night was awesome! I think they've done a really good job with a short 1st season with a very limited budget and cast without even knowing if the show will get renewed for another season. It's a darkhorse because I think a lot of us were dismissing it maybe because the trailers made it look a little hokey and low budget. It's actually quite good, has a lot of action, some weird plot twists and most of the actors are great! Olivar from GoT (Will Tudor) has done a bang-up job as a defective and more mechanical type synth "Odie" which is a lot harder than the other actors who are playing the sentient/emotional ones who are more like humans.

It's a shame that there's only one episode left, I'd thought there'd be more, so hopefully next season is longer (if it's been renewed, that is, which I dunno). Anyways, I've been keeping up with the show and think it does a very interesting job exploring the questions around this stuff, all without making it seem unrealistic or too futuristic. They've made it seem like a very plausible near-future instead of something absurd and too CGI-filled like the Will Smith-starring I, Robot adaptation was. Making the world seem very contemporary and having the synths played by humans really sells it and also, I imagine, makes it all cheaper to produce, so it's a win-win there.

Yay! I think this little show has a lot of potential and of course I just love anything to do with AI. I happen to be playing a game right now called the Talos Principle where you yourself as the protagonist are some sort of AI being in a world with apparently no humans (post apoc?), or at least that's what you're led to believe as you unravel the clues. I have been careful not to spoil the ending for myself.

Yeah I quite liked it, one of the better episodes.
I still find it such a flawed programme, with too many lead characters to fully develop in an eight episode season and some flat out poor direction. They try to fit so much into every episode that little has time to breathe, It's a shame that they seem to prioritise plot developments (that are crammed in even when they seem forced or out of character) over the conceptual nature of the whole story and the character drama.
Maybe I'm expecting too much but I feel like this could be great when really it's no better than good.
