Hello I mostly lurk but will post if the subject moves me. I found you all through 'Is Winter Coming?'. I post there under the same name as here. I also have an account at Westeros (different name) but that site SUCKS BALLS during the season because it's always fucking crashing! *deep breath* Sorry for the out burst. I only have about 50 posts there and really I just lurk and get mad at their fucktardedness and yell at the screen. I've read the books, watched the show and enjoy both as separate things (it's the German in me that allows me to compartmentalize). I also watch Supernatural, iZombie, Forever and loads of other stuff (Hulu is my BFF). I read bunches and think the outside is for sitting in a lawn chair doing just that! I live in PA, USA and work for a firearms company; used to work in a small grocery store as a file clerk. I want to give a big round of applause to the people who built/maintain the site I helped on a board for awhile and it was A LOT of work! Good job and keep it up!

Just catching up on all the new introductions and great convo here I've missed. I highlighted the two funny things you said that I completely concur with about that site and why I finally stopped posting there out of frustration. I used to post there tons and have been on that site since about 2008 or 2009 or something like that. You'd think they'd sign up for bigger bandwidth or something but they never do and the site just sits there unresponsive after every episode, plus they take years to post new threads so as a result, everyone crams their overstated opinions into the few that are passed through the gauntlet and that just leads to mass flaming. It's a recipe for disaster. I go there thinking I'm going to participate in some good theory-crafting and debating and end up just closing out the browser in frustration most of the time. Sati, iheartseverus and others are doing a fantastic job bringing some great folks onboard here so I'm happy to live here! GOOD JOB Y'ALL!

You will see that this board is more relaxed and civilized than westeros.org. It's really easy to jump into conversations here. Welcome to the board!

Can we all appreciate the irony of how the board where I am an admin is CALM and CIVILIZED? This is like Stannis running an orgy level of paradox Welcome to all the newcomers, so glad you joined us!

Yes, I so agree, Westeros.Org implodes during the series. Your rage is good though. Yes, young Unicornshoes, give in to your anger... let the forum flow through you! Also, this 'outside' you mention... does it really exist. I have heard of it in legend...

LOL! I leave for work before my neighbors are up & they come home after me so going outside also lets them know I'm not rotting away dropping property values. It's not that I really care cuz they suck but I don't need the old ladies calling the cops to do a wellness check either!

They locked their whiny thread on westeros.org, so they just started posting their hate-watching ramblings in other threads.
It's like the clogged toilet, the shit went everywhere.

Hi, brand new here. I'm Bria from Vancouver island, Canada. I'm the operations manager for a local freight company. I'm married and just found out I'm expecting our first child. I used to read the forums at westeros but never felt the urge to post. There were some interesting discussions but too many toxic trolls and I find Linda extremely distasteful. A while back I noticed that everybody interesting, nice or funny seemed to have disappeared. I snooped around and found this place. Very nice job, Sati! So, cheers! Happy to be here. Congrats on the widget. In another life, I helped recruit/contract owner-operators and served as paymaster for the long-haul division of a shipping company. The background checks were the best part of the job. The industry sure attracts all kinds...

Hello everyone. My name is Jordan, and I'm an alcoholic. I'm an eighteen year old British male, single. I am originally from Northern Ireland but I am currently at university in England studying Law, and should currently be "revising" for my upcoming exams. In my spare time I enjoy gaming, reading and archery. If you are a PC gamer, feel free to add me on Steam, my ID is 'Zadeth'. As for reading, I really enjoy fantasy (duh), such as ASOIAF and the World of Warcraft lore books. Finally, as for archery nothing special, I am just a member of my university's club and I shoot recurve. My favourite TV show would have to be Breaking Bad or House of Cards and I do not have a favourite movie, it changes dependant on my mood - though some favourites are the Harry Potter Saga, Black Swan and Spirited Away. ( Uhm.. Do we do fun facts about ourselves?) Fun fact about myself - I do not drink alcohol and have never been drunk. I'm a supporter of House Tyrell and then House Lannister. My love for House Tyrell is summed up by the Game of Thrones wiki article about them: "House Tyrell's overall disposition is adequately represented by their sigil of a rose: a rose's beauty often hides the fact that it has thorns. The Tyrells do try to be just and fair most of the time, however this often lulls their enemies into thinking that like the Starks, they are utterly beholden to honorable conduct. In reality, the Tyrells are just as cunning as the Lannisters in court politics and intrigue, though they often prefer a more subtle approach. Thus they strike a pragmatic balance between the Starks' honor and the Lannisters' ruthlessness.".

Hey guys, I normally hate situations where I have to talk about myself, but I'll try. I'm Laura, a twenty-one old gal from Germany and I've been studying urban planning for nearly three years now and I will finish my bachelore degree next year. I love baking and cooking, which is often accompanied by one or two GoT episodes. I've heard about GoT a few times in past years, but fantasy and especially any medieval resembling fantasy TV or books were never really my thing (I started to read The Hobbit so many times until I gave up). So I was bored on a Friday night and was zapping and simply stopped on RTLII (which is a really crappy german TV channel famous for all kinds of shitty reality TV) and watched Season 3 of Game of Thrones. And I was hooked. Being a book lover, I read through the English novels in three-four weeks as German novels cost twice as much and are split into two halves each. And they translate many names and stuff ridiculously. I watched Season 1-3 afterwards. On westeros.org I read a lot to understand things I didn't catch up at once, but was too reluctant to post anything because I felt I didn't have enough knowledge to contribute anything to the discussion. And I was disgusted by all the hate-watchers. I finally found Admin s tumblr and blog and so I ended up here.

Hi, I'm Beverly, from North Carolina. Just now saw this thread and loved getting to know everybody by reading it through. You guys are some pretty awesome people - funny, sharp, perceptive. Iheartseverus invited me over from "the other board" (where I'm lostinwesteros), and I really love it here - a land without any 'mean and nasties'. I think I'm the oldest person here . . . over 40 . . . over 50 . . . over 60 - 'nuff said. Izzue was the name of a long-haired dachshund given me by friends who could no longer keep him. When he was a puppy they kept saying to him "Is you a good dog?", couldn't think of a name and finally settled for "Is you", spelled Izzue. I figured nobody else would have that name. I'm a retired psychotherapist, have a 35 year old daughter whom I raised as a single parent, and I've always loved to read. Something about ASOIAF grabbed me like nothing else ever has. I started the books 4 years ago, finished them in 2-1/2 months. Then I found out about the first season of the TV series on HBO and within the hour had added HBO to my cable plan, even though it wrecked my budget. Fantasy is what I've always loved most, but I have lots of other favorite books/authors, too. On TV I've been watching Outlander, Broadchurch, Wolf Hall, Grimm, Once Upon A Time, Death in Paradise. Also love murder mysteries. Loved the Merlin series (where lots of GOT actors showed up). Love to travel, need to win the lottery to do more of it. A cousin has been tracing our mothers' family back through centuries in Scotland, so that's at the top of my wish list. Am a cat lover and have two now - Little Orphan Annie and Scout Finch. Probably 'way TMI.

Hello all, glad to have been introduced to this board by Konradsmith I can't really introduce myself properly but I have worked on the last 3 seasons of GoT and am a massive fan of the show. I've also read all the books. I occasionally contribute to WotW and AFOIAF although I'm avoiding the latter these days. Looking forward to catching up on all the discussions!

I just noticed this thread. Greetings, lovely people! I'm so happy to be here. I was invited by Iheartseverus who saw me being bemused on westeros.org.
I live in Austin, Texas. I'm 40, over educated, and work as an editor. I frequently get excited on boards and don't edit my posts, though, so expect typos anyway. I'm married and have a passel of pets.
A Song of Ice and Fire was my first fantasy series besides Tolkien. I never expected to love it so much, but I basically stayed up all night and day reading the first three books back in 2001, and I've been obsessed since.
Sati: this board works so well! Thank you!
