Tyrion and Varys rule Meereen and will assist Dany. Maybe D&D will make Tyrion ride the dragons... I hope not. Jon gets resurrected and... I don't know. Tyrion and Varys will have a role to play in Dany's landing. She'll probably ditch Meereen and slavery will be restored, she's sad but she had to make this sacrifice. Then she will land and after one day of ruling the 7 kingdoms, she is poisoned. Or meets Brienne which is even deadlier

I still believe that Stannis will win the battle of the Ice in the books I am having difficult time. I plan to root Euron for the Throne. But he is a maniac! Tommen is too incompetent, Stannis is dead, there is no fAegon and Dany... well, she's Dany. I root for Davos, LC Bran and Roose, but who to root for the Iron Throne? Euron is a sick pirate king, no thanks. Davos is my favorite at the moment, I plan on supporting Sansa, Blackfish and other Northern lords in S6. But who's claim will I support? There's no one left?! Dany or Tommen?! Northern independence it is then! Well theres none of that Vale bullshit in the books and the Northerners are ready to revolt against Roose so I can feel safe in the knowledge that Stan lives a bit longer in the books. But just like Selmy, it doesnt take away the pain.

My main upset, the StanBaratheon troops look so cool in their armor, and now theyre all dead Any man who marches into battle with a heart on his armour and is still regarded as a badass is pretty fucking badass!

I posted this in another thread but my husband's boss swears that Stannis is going to be resurrected next season. I really wish the show would have taken the option of having Stannis rid Winterfell of Boltons and then have to live with decisions...he wins the battle but it costs him his wife and daughter. I would have loved to a show down with Davos. I really think there was a lot of interesting storyline left with Stannis. D&D obviously don't consult me

D&D obviously don't consult me I read the interview with whichever director it was who said they thought having Stannis death actually on screen would be gratuitous. I had to groan at that considering all the gratuitous things they did actually put on screen. Of all the characters who needed a clean death without any weirdness attached it was Stannis. The minute he burned Shireen, we knew it was over for him. Go on, do your duty.

I don't think he meant it so much that it would be gratuitous to show the violence in general because in that same interview he talks about how he thinks Meryn's death had to be as violent as it was. I think he meant that given all the shit Stan's went through in the episode, seeing his head come off or something like that would be a bit too much.

This is the guy who directed Catelyn's death and no one saw worse things before dying than her. And we did see her death in great detail.

No, I was referring to gratuitous meaning unnecessary... isn't that what he meant? A lot of folks thought some of their choices were gratuitous in that way ... did we really need to see Trant as a pedophile for example? I thought the director did not want to show Stannis' death on screen as it wasn't necessary - but it's one case where I think most felt it was necessary.

The rationale as I see it was that, since his death was sortof a mercy, we were spared from seeing it. But yeah, if it's caused this much confusion really they ought to have just shown it.

My main upset, the StanBaratheon troops look so cool in their armor, and now theyre all dead Any man who marches into battle with a heart on his armour and is still regarded as a badass is pretty fucking badass! House Baratheon of Dragonstone's soldiers had the best looking armor on the show. This makes this situation even worse. Stannis's armor was my favorite costume on the show, we will not see those armors ever again. Terrible shame. My main upset, the StanBaratheon troops look so cool in their armor, and now theyre all dead Any man who marches into battle with a heart on his armour and is still regarded as a badass is pretty fucking badass! It was heartbreaking even seeing those nameless Baratheon soldiers die at the hands of those treacherous shits I really liked that general guy.. Look at how many men fought loyally for their King until the very end. I really wish the show would have taken the option of having Stannis rid Winterfell of Boltons and then have to live with decisions...he wins the battle but it costs him his wife and daughter. Looks like bookStannis is gathering the Northmen together, so immediately when Stannis dies, the Northmen will crown one of their own. They could have given Stannis this honor on the show as well. Stannis still had material for at least another season if they had followed the path from the books.

Honestly, I think the only reason it was ambiguous was so that it wouldn't stand out against the rest of the cliffhangers and Nutter is just making something up to make it seem otherwise.

Well, the Meryn as a pedo angle was to let Arya do what she does in the Mercy chapter to Trant. I think he meant gratuitous more as excessive not unnecessary in this instance. But as I said above, given the resulting confusion, they should've just shown it.
