Last night I was doing a random re-watch of GOT and I noticed that the woman that buys from Arya is one of the prostitutes that were with Salladhor Saan in Braavos while Stannis and Davos went to visit the Iron Bank. I know it's silly, but I love that they do things like this. I do, too. It shows they're not just slapping things together without thinking. Good for you for seeing it!

Sarine Sofair shot for two days for s5, one in Croatia (the scene in 508) and one in Belfast (an interior scene)...so we'll see her again. My guess is that Arya utilizes her friendship with Lhara to get her chance to kill a certain someone.

I also love that they do things like that to subtly tie together locations and characters. Most don't catch those little added bonuses. I certainly didn't make the connection with Lhara and her previous scene - that was awhile back! Cool.

BTW did anyone catch Dany saying "for twenty years" when she and Tyrion were talking about Varys? That pretty much establishes how much time has passed in show canon (and how old Jon and Dany are meant to be in the show). In s1 everyone talked about Robert's Rebellion as being "seventeen years" ago and now by 508 it' twenty. So s1 to s5 has been three years, I guess.
(Sorry if someone else already posted exactly this. It ain't exactly a revelation, just something interesting I've picked up through rewatching).

I did catch it and was going to mention it when we were discussing the skewed timeline and trying to figure out how much time has passed but forgot. It actually makes Myrcella's line "I've been here for years" less exaggerated sounding if more time has passed on the show, non-aging Gilly's baby aside.

Yeah, that would give some credit to the idea of one year per season, but there are still two major inconsistencies. The first is Sansa, who says she is 13 in the pilot and at her wedding to Tyrion in 308 she says she's 14. The second is obvious: Gilly's baby, who was born in 304 and is still a newborn by 508.

I think it's more likely that s1 and s2 were both around a year apiece and s3, s4 and s5 so far together add up to another year. Dany could be rounding up from nineteen too really.

We can still create a few theories to try to fix the timeline. Baby Sam's lack of growth could be a result of Craster's incest causing some kind of anomaly. Sansa's age could also be a lie. She could've had just turned 13 in the pilot and on her wedding night she could've lied to Tyrion saying she's a year younger than she really is to put some weight in his conscience or something.
I don't know how we could explain why Bran took a year to travel from Winterfell to the Wall and another year from the Wall to Bloodraven's cave. It's also very hard to believe that Tormund and Ygritte spent a year south of the Wall waiting for Mance's signal.

Three years sounds accurate. These are my guesses: Season 1 = 1 year Season 2 = 10 months Season 3 = 5 months Season 4 = 2 months Season 5 = 6 months

^ I think Gilly's baby is more of a logistical thing. It's easier to just handle a baby, so they keep it.

I never took Myrcellas comment about being there for years too seriously. She's a teenager and they tend to exaggerate pretty often. For her Dorne is a much happier place to live and thus she pushes her earlier life in KL away.

Isn't there a point in Season 2, I think episode 5, where they say that Stannis is 6 weeks away? I can't see the season being 10 months long, timeline wise.

What I noticed about that scene also is that Dany identified Varys as Robert's Spymaster, when he was also her father's. Which could suggest that that has been retconned to make the "Varys just supports Dany" claims easier to swallow?

I think it's going to be tough to sell Varys as an ally to Dany for many of the same reasons she can't have Jorah by her side per Tyrion's advice. It would make her look weak wouldn't it?

Jaime also says he was Robb Stark's prisoner for a year.
