10. This is why the Wall stuff has always been the most interesting part of the show for me. Because the real threat is from the North.

Cersei licking up the water. The cut to Arya after that. Arya's braavosi outfit. Sansa, you damn girl. Dany's and Tyrion's self-help group. FUCKING HARDHOME. Edit: It's a 10 for me, if you haven't figured it out.

The direction was clearly outstanding but props have to be given to David and Dan in the episode writing. They conceived all of those moments on the page with no real book template to work from.

I have to say, I have not watched a fantasy movie or show in a very long time that got my heart racing like that Hardhome scene did ... seriously - that was un-fucking-believable. It rivals anything the big names have put out like Lord of the Rings or anything. Wow. Just sitting here completely in shock. I think I cried through that Hardhome scene more than anything else in the show because seeing the White Walkers actually really there, and facing off with one of our hopeful heroes (YOU KNOW SOMETHING NOW JON SNOW!!!) ... well that's just something I've waited nearly two decades to see played out in reality instead of just my imagination. They freaking NAILED it. Also, I know the final scenes are completely overshadowing the rest but it was an absolutely phenomenal episode across the board. Even without the Hardhome scenes it was perfectly perfect - everyone was so awesome. I'm so happy to see Tyrion and Dany together, so happy to see that smile on Arya's face as she starts her new work, so happy to see Cersei licking water off the floor (LOL), and so happy to have heard Theon's confession, it was all PERFECT. Edit: I don't know about you guys, but that felt like a season finale it was that epic. I don't really know how they're going to top this one!

Was it better than Blackwater episode? Your info gleaned from IMDB or wherever was right btw. So, hopefully the person who gave that info does so again in the future...for those who want to be spoiled, that is.

I think Emilia Clarke can be a very good actress at times but she needs strong material to prop her up and can't overcome mediocre writing like some other actors can. It's a credit to how good Peter Dinklage is that she seemed to be able to up her game so well tonight when playing against him. He's truly a national treasure (even though I'm not American).

Was it better than Blackwater episode? Yes. I would definitely say it was better than Blackwater and that was pretty damn epic. This put EPIC in a whole new category.

Idk I think I prefer Blackwater and WOTW tbh not that that takes anything away from this episode. All are awesome and similar in quality. I initially wanted to give a 9 cause I wasn't all that fond of the Olly scene and Dany/Tyrion was pretty good but felt a little flat idk. But the Nights King at the end bumps it to ten.

This is why you people shouldn't throw tens around so casually. Wait until episodes actually deserve them. Like this one! Fantastic episode!! Not sure I'm ready to say it's better than Blackwater (which I've seen several times), but it just might be. Will need to rewatch. This episode might have a slight edge for me because Dany was in it (which BW lacked), on top of all the exciting action.

Wow. that Hardhome sequence was phenomenal. Sophie and Alfie killed it again in their scenes. I gave it a 9 because it did start off a bit slow and I'm salty that Jorah got sent away again. lol Also I was kind of hoping for a Selmy mention somewhere. But still. Amazing episode. Was it better than Blackwater episode? Yes. I would definitely say it was better than Blackwater and that was pretty damn epic. This put EPIC in a whole new category. Holy fuck so hyped rn

I think it was perfectly fair to give 503, 505 and 507 tens. They were all really strong. In some ways more consistent than 508 really, if not as jaw-dropping and explosive. I liked them all around the same so it seems right to rate them the same.
Anyways, ten is meant to mean anything above 9.5 that you've rounded up.

FUCKING TEN!!!! This was best episode of the season, although it had no Stannis in it. Almost the best episode of the whole show, but 4x09 tops this.
Pros and cons
Pros + Roose + Michael McElhatton + Reek told Sansa that Bran and Rickon are alive + Cersei's misery + CLEGANEBOWL!!! + Jon is Azor Ahai + Tyrion talked back to Dany somewhat + Arya and the ship insurance man + Wun Wun was pure epicness + Rattleshirt and Tormund rage mode + The Hardhome elder council + Edd looked strangely at Wun Wun, because Mag killed Grenn + The wight attack + Karsi being unable to kill those children wights. I took it as they were her little girls who disobeyed her orders to get to the boats? + Wun Wun again + Jon vs the White Walker + Valyrian Steel can kill the WW confirmed + LC Bran thought "Oh that boy killed one of us. Fuck that." + At first I thought Edd would die but he survived. I am calling it, Edd survives the whole series + Wun Wun action mode + Alfie Allen + Those wights just rumbling down the cliff + Wun Wun walking in the water + LC Bran rising all those who died as wights in few moments + The 13th Lord Commander of the Night's Watch Brandon Stark aka the Night's King is badass Cons - Too small amount of Roose - Where was Varamyr?
