Wow. Well, that was well worth the wait! Looked absolutely gorgeous, great acting, interesting set up for the rest of the season. Wonderful.

I still haven't watched further than Memento Mori. I haven't had time. But I've still read what happens.

I still haven't watched further than Memento Mori. I haven't had time. But I've still read what happens. Is Memento Mori 2/01? The thing I think the show needs to work on is their finales. Season 2 was a distinct improvement on Season 1's, but it still felt a bit of a let down in some respects, most notably how the "big bad" is dealt with. Character-wise it was wonderful, completing the arcs each of them had been on throughout the season and establishing the impact the events had on them all. But in terms of the actual confrontation, it was only good, not great. I will say though that I've never been so captivated by a woman chanting gibberish at a doll in my life. The music, acting, and set all contributed to making that such a dramatic moment, so hats off to whoever was responsible for making what, on paper sounds very dull so very tense. Big step up from Grand Guingol though, which kind of sucked. Strength of this show is definitely its' complex characters though, IMO, rather than "action". As for this season, bringing Patti LuPone back looks like it was the right decision. Good god, even among such a strong cast she was superb. And I liked that they addressed the Cut-Wife resemblance. Could easily have just ignored it since they aren't too similar in appearance.

Finally caught up with the premiere. It was solid. This show continues to be the most atmospheric on tv imo (although being in the west felt weird, but I'm sure I'll get used to it). The final scene with Renfeld was pretty good, nice and creepy. Holding off judgment on Hyde. Also, points for casting Magua from Last of the Mohicans!

Just finished 3x02. I knew the zoologist was to good to be true.

Dorian has been the weakest character on the show from the beginning, but Lily was great last season. I'm looking forward to them as well.

Oh Dorian, haven't you learned by now never to put white sheets on the bed when you are having a bloodbath threesome? You'll never get those stains out! Another great episode, I love where they are going with The Creature and his past connection to Vanessa

If Eva doesn't win an Emmy this year, we riot.

John Logan is hoping the show can get an Emmy too, so here's hoping. Eva's awards are long overdue. Just seeming Rory Kinnear out of the makeup for the creature really makes me appreciate how much work must go into that.

The twist at the end of episode 3x03 was brilliant.
It is absolutely criminal that show's as good as Penny Dreadful and The Leftovers struggle so badly in ratings, and some of the garbage on tv does so well.

Also, when Lily was talking about Ethan this episode, I couldn't help thinking: that's one threesome Dorian wouldn't be saying no to (thinking back to Dorian and Ethan in season one I mean)
