Thrilled that Mystery of Love was nominated for Best Song. <3 I hope Sufjan Stevens gets to perform it live at the ceremony.

Mildly irritated that Star Wars didn't get nominated for best cinematography. But Blade Runner deserves to win anyway so whatever

I'm glad that Breadwinner and Logan got nominated, but WTF is Boss Baby doing on the nominations list??

Molly’s Game had some great writing. Haven’t see all of the other nominees but that one is a solid choice

I'm glad that Breadwinner and Logan got nominated, but WTF is Boss Baby doing on the nominations list?? I refused to see Boss Baby, even with my kids. My sister in law took them to see that. How in the world did it get on there? The only Oscar nominated movies I saw: The Last Jedi, Beauty and the Beast, Ferdinand and Coco. So, I don't really have much commentary to offer other then Ferdinand and Coco are worthy nominees and I hope Coco does win.

I did not watch the Oscars but I was not surprised by the winners of the main categories: best director, best picture, best actor, best actress, best supporting actor and actress. Glad Oldman finally got one and same with Rockwell: even though I did not see their movies. Was so glad Coco won because if Boss Baby did...

So Emmy nominations coming up soon, time to prepare for my inevitable rage. Some wishlists/predictions from me (wishlist will be stated as such...people I think deserve the award but don’t think are likely to get it)
Drama Series: The Americans Orphan Black (wishlist - the final season aired this time last year which makes it an awkward contender) Westworld (this is eligible right) The Handmaid’s Tale The Crown
Stranger Things
Drama Actress: Keri Russell Tatiana Maslany (wishlist - again, probably aired at the wrong time to win in 2018) Elizabeth Moss Claire Foy
Drama Actor: Mathew Rhys Matt Smith (No idea on the rest)
Supporting Actress: Thandie Newton (with all WW noms, I’m assuming it’s eligible) Evan Rachel Wood Ann Dowd Vanessa Kirby
Supporting Actor: Jeffrey Wright Ed Harris Kevin Hanchard (wishlist) Noah Emmerich (wishlist)
Sean Astin
Guest Actor/Actress: Anthony Hopkins
Comedy Series: Marvellous Ms Maisel GLOW Crazy Ex-Girlfriend *wishlist* Black-ish
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Comedy Actress: Rachel Broshnan (spelling?) Rachel Bloom (wishlist) Tracey Ellis-Ross
Ellie Kemper
Supporting actress: Donna-Lynne Champlain (wishlist) Alison Brie Betty Gilpin Alex Borstein
Jane Krakowsi

stoneheartsrevenge, great list. I'm more well versed in drama then I am in comedy. Best Drama: Westworld, The Handmaids Tale, The Americans, The Crown, Better Call Saul, This Is Us, Killing Eve (won't be surprised if Got sneaks in) Best Drama Actress: Sandra Oh, Elizabeth Moss, Claire Foy, Jodie Cormer, Keri Russell, Christine Baranski (The Good Fight), Evan Rachel Wood, possibly Thandie Newton (who should be here but HBO might put in supporting so she and Evan don't cancel each other out) Best Drama Actor: Jeffrey Wright, Matt Smith, Bob Odenkirk, Matthew Rhys, Justin Hartley (who I think should be here as he had a bigger role then Sterling K Brown-who should be supporting this year but I won't be surprised to see them reversed), Freddie Highmore (the Good Doctor) Best Drama Supporting Actress: Thandie Newton, Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz, Vanessa Kirby, Samira Wiley,Ann Dowd Best Drama Supporting Actor: Noah Schapp, Sterling K Brown, Milo Ventrimiglia, Jeremy Northam, Mandy Patinkin, Joseph Fiennes, David Harbour Matias Varela (Narcos) Best Comedy: GLOW, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Atlanta, first half of Kimmy Schmidt? Black-ish Best Comedy Actor: Marc Macron, Michael Zegen, Donald Glover, Titus Burgess,Anthony Anderson Best Comedy Actress: Rachel Broshanan (who will probably win), Alison Brie, Ellie Kempler, Issa Rae Best Comedy Supporting Actress: Betty Gilpin, Jane Krakowski, Carol Kane, Kate Mc Kinnon, Tracie Ellis Ross Best Comedy Supporting Actor: No idea

Lead/supporting always confuses me. I tend to err on the side of caution and assume that an ensemble cast like GLOW or Westworld where there is no one main focus character everyone is supporting (kind of like GOT, don’t think anyone is eligible for lead?). Just realising that it’s only season 1 of GLOW that will be eligible, duh! But still think it stands a good chance, with the release of season 2 just now boosting those chances, (excellent second season by the way, and I think several of the cast members would stand a chance at an Emmy if they were submitted for their work) Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is definitely eligible, that’s probably the only reason it got split, so it was released in time. Really hope Jane Krakowski gets nominated. Of course my ideal wins for lead and supporting comedy actresses are Rachel Bloom and Donna Lynne Champlin respectively but I know that won’t happen so... Not yet seen Killing Eve, but I’ve heard wonderful things. Don’t think it’s aired here yet

Not yet seen Killing Eve, but I’ve heard wonderful things. Don’t think it’s aired here yet I think Sandra Oh might be giving Elizabeth Moss a run for her money in best actress. It would shock me if GLOW walks away with no nods. I have not started season 2 yet but I think season 2 airing now should help season 1. GoT actors are better off in supporting. In season 1 they submitted both Sean Bean and Lena Headly as best actor and actress and both were not nominated. Every season after that, they've submitted their actors and actresses in supporting. But for season 7, they are putting Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke in lead actor/actress category. I don't see them getting nominated nor do I think they deserve nominations

No really shocks imo. First year that Westworld and Thrones have gone up against each other, should be interesting. Lead actress in a drama is just an absolutely crazy category. How the hell do you choose between these women?! Rooting for JRM in lead actor though

Of all they great actors in Waco they went with John Liguizamo? He was the least interesting person in that miniseries.

I am sorry Thrones did not deserve 22 nods. Nor did it deserve best show nomination. NCW is long overdue for an Emmy and should have been nominated for season 3. His scene with Diana Rigg (which I suspect was submitted for both) was probably the best scene of the season for me, so I see why he is nominated. Peter is just a rote nomination at this point. Not surprised that Kit and Emilia were not nominated. I suck at predictions but here's my best: Best Comedy Should Win: GLOW Best Comedy Will Win: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Limited Series-I only watched the Alienist Best Comedy Actress Will Win: Rachel Brosnahan (TMMM)...she won the Golden Globe, I think she wins this one. It's a tough category. Best Comedy Actor Will Win: Donald Glover Best Comedy Actor Should Win: Ted Danson...another tough category Best Drama Actress: 6 way tie? How do you pick this one???? People were upset that Mandy Moore was not nominated for best actress but it's just such a tough category, I'm not upset she was not nominated. Best Drama Actor: For me it's between Jeffrey Wright and Ed Harris. As wonderful as Sterling K Brown and Milo V are on This Is Us, they were clearly supporting this year. The big omission this year, for me, was Justin Hartley of This Is Us-he was fantastic and their leading actor this season . Best Drama:This Is Us would be my pick to win but I'd be happy with anyone in the category winning except GoT. Best Supporting Actress Drama: I am stuck between Thandie Newton and Vanessa Kirby. Best Supporting Actor Drama: I would not mind seeing David Harbour win this one. I don't know if one scene could carry NCW to a win but I'd be okay if he did win. I would swap Dinklage out for Matias Varela of Narcos who turned in one of the most compelling supporting performances on TV last year. Best Supporting Actress Comedy-Rooting for Betty Gilpin but it's a tough category Best Supporting Actor Comedy-Another tough category..I'll go with Tony Shalhoub but anyone of those guys could easily win it Guest Actor Drama: Gerald Mc Raney, This Is Us/ Guest Actress Drama: Diana Rigg

I’m predicting a total sweep for Handmaid’s Tale (which LOL the Emmy announcers couldn’t even pronounce, wtf?). I haven’t seen season two yet but by all accounts the performances were excellent. And the timing of it will make it a hit with voters.

So GoT wins for best series? What crack are the Emmy voters smoking? Goes to show that visual spectacle can wipe out nonsensical writing...considering that that the other shows nominated in the category had far superior writing (even though I can't speak on Handmaids Tale since I don't have Hulu) and made more narrative sense then GoT. Peter Dinklage winning again for supporting actor for basically having NOTHING TO DO? I would have picked NCW over him. David Harbour, Matt Smith would have also been more deserving wins over Dinklage. Don't get me wrong he's great as Tyrion but he's not had much meat to his role since season 4. I'm happy to see Henry Winkler win his first Emmy (I thought he would have had one for the Fonz, but I guess not). And he had the best speech of the night. Wonderful to see Thandie Newton win as well, she deserved it. Not surprised at all the wins for Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Glad at least Matthew Rhys won. Loved that he said Keri Russell told him that she would kill him if he proposed to her in public. Not surprised at the win for Claire Foy. She's been stellar as Queen Elizabeth. The Crown or the Americans should have won for Best Drama.

stoneheartsrevenge or anyone else. Golden Globes are tonight. Anyone have quick predictions? I never get to see enough films to really make good predictions so I will just say that my favorite movies that I have seen are AQuiet Place and A Star is Born and A Quiet Place didn't get much in nods...I'll pick a sweep for ASIB: Best Film/Director/Actor/Actress/Song-doubt the Globes will go full sweep there but since I didn't see much of the other nominated films-that's the best I can offer on the film side. TV on the other hand. Let's do this. Best Drama Series: I think they go with Homecoming on Amazon (though I'd pick Bodyguard) Best Drama Actor: I think they go with Matthew Rhys. I have a prayer circle for Richard Madden though, despite my eternal, undying love for him, he was excellent in that role-I'd love to see him get some awards for it. I think his best shot is a BAFTA. Best Drama Actress: Sandra Oh Best Comedy: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I'd rather see The Good Place win though Best Comedy Actor: Michael Douglas Best Comedy Actress: Alison Brie.
