My main worry with The Disaster Artist is the fact that Dave and James look so much a like that I was afraid the fact that they are brothers would be way too obvious.

I watched Red Desert (1964) an Italian film starring Monica Vitti and Richard Harris about a troubled woman's desperate isolation in modern, industrialist society. The film was directed by Michelangelo Antonioni, who is best known for Blow Up, a classic thriller which influenced everything from Brian De Palma's paranoid thriller Blow Out, to the swinging playboy persona of Austin Powers. Vitti plays Giuliana, a young mother who finds herself neglected by her husband after a serious car accident leaves her feeling constantly anxious and disorientated. She gets involved with her husband's colleague(Harris) who is overcome by her beauty, but she's never sure if he truly loves her or if she's just a fleeting thrill to him. This is a moody and atmospheric film with a lot of amazing shots of Vitti stumbling through an Italian winter in the throes of industrial sprawl. This is about a woman struggling to find meaning and purpose in a repetitive and ugly world, and the different ways of coping with near-constant loneliness. The shots of polluted rivers and behemoth factories are somehow beautiful, and the way fog from the harbor envelopes and absorbs characters is pure cinema. The deliberate pace is not for everybody, but for people interested in an artistic portrayal of alienation and depression, this is a must-watch.

On Dunkirk. Put it in spoiler tags to be safe Mixed thoughts. Visceral, claustrophobic, and horrifying at times but a lot of the impact is wiped away for me cause I didn't give a single shit about any of the characters (maybe a little for Mark Rylance and his son.) It was loud as fuck which added to the intense vibes but made it so I could barely understand half the dialogue. Definitely need a second watch with subtitles when it comes out on HBO or whatever. Nolan continues to be overrated. Solid enough movie but hardly the masterpiece the critics were calling it imo

It's definitely a spectacle and I'm sure it will feel like a totally different movie on the small screen

I'm ocassionally willing to splash out for these things so I may treat myself. I think some of Nolan's other films have issues with difficult to hear dialogue btw. I wish I could see it in theatre with subtitles

I'm hearing that Dunkirk has very little dialogue, almost like its a silent film.

I'm hearing that Dunkirk has very little dialogue, almost like its a silent film. I heard that too. And that none of the actors get *much* screen time. Also heard Zimmer does an incredible score though, so it could be very effective. Hardy and Murphy certainly have he Skill to hold their own in a movie with little dialogue though
