Saw Tomb Raider with my brother last night we're both huge Tomb Raider fans ... and it was okay! I love everything Tomb Raider, so I wanted to love this too sooo bad, but I just couldn't. It was just so meh in almost every aspect, and the dialogue was legit awful sometimes. It's so weird how the story of this movie was one hundred percent based on the story of the Tomb Raider reboot from 2013, while the character of Lara Croft herself seemed to have more in common with old-school Lara. The old Lara was an eccentric and a thrillseeker, she was mostly in it for the adventure. The new Lara on the other hand was far more grounded, she was a legit archaeologist who had an academic interest in the historical meaning of her discoveries. But yeah, it was an okay movie. This happens a lot with movies based on video games, they took the story of the game and simplified it to the point where it's almost unrecognizable. Also, for some reason, they took away the supernatural aspect, which is super disappointing. There were one or two references to the games that made me happy (that scene where she buys two pistols made me grin like an idiot), but apart from that, the movie was sadly extremely forgettable.

I watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2. I actually liked it than what most people gave it credit. Although i agreed that some of the jokes feels out of place and Drax has been demoted to a sex joke character, in terms of the story however it's really good and enjoyable. In fact, i find it more enjoyable than the first one. As a sequel, not great as Winter Soldier, but at least it's better than Age of Ultron. Husband and I are going to watch it this weekend and hopefully we will get to the theater and watch Black Panther as well. do it now! You have to pay for the whole year but if the price goes back up you still pay this price every year when it renews. With infinity war, solo and deadpool all coming out in the next couple months I figured this was the time to do it and then they lowered the price so I hopped on it I don't know, it almost seems too good to be true, like there has to be some awful catch somewhere. I saw Unsane today which was excellent. I am glad to hear that about Unsane...the title irks me though. I keep saying "that's not a word!"

kingeomer The title is annoying, but fitting. I was really surprised by that movie.

Can't wait to see Love, Simon. Apparently it's amazing, gay reddit is absolutely in love with it. Unfortunately it doesn't come out in Germany until the end of June.

I did not realize Claire Foy was in it and I will probably watch it based on your recommendation & Sodenburgh directed it. Can't wait to see Love, Simon. Apparently it's amazing, gay reddit is absolutely in love with it. Unfortunately it doesn't come out in Germany until the end of June. I have hear a lot of good things about Love, Simon. A movie I really want to see that's getting a lot of good buzz, is A Quiet Place.

So, I've been re-watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy over the last two days. I just finished Return of the King this morning and I'm a sad and emotional mess right now. I mean, it's pretty common for me to tear up a bit at an emotional movie scene, but not like this man, never like this. I have spent literally the last hour and a half ugly crying my heart out. I swear, these movies are like a spiritual, not to say religious, experience for me.
The funny thing is, I was kind of late to the party in regard to Lord of the Rings. I watched the movies with my dad in the cinema when they first came out, but I was too young back then to really appreciate them and I quickly forgot about them. It wasn't until around 2012 when I watched them again in the extended cut, that I absolutely fell in love with them. Nowadays, I genuinely think these are the best movies of all time, and they only seem to get better every time I watch them.

Nowadays, I genuinely think these are the best movies of all time, and they only seem to get better every time I watch them. Those movies were so well done, I agree they rank among the best of all time (shame PJ's The Hobbit was not as good), and they are special to me. One, besides cartoons-which is all my Mom will watch at the movies, it's the one movie my Mom and I can watch together. Two, it's what brought me and Mr. Kingeomer together. Our first date was a repeat viewing for the both us, seeing Return of the King. At the end when Alan Lee's drawings of the cast show up at the end credits, I asked him, do you mind if we stay through the credits, I just love the artwork at the end. Mr. Kingeomer was like, "HELL YEAH" as he is an art nerd and absolutely loves Alan Lee's work. Our wedding bands are simple gold bands (like the one ring) in some sort of elvish that says "one love". The casting was perfect. How lucky they were that Viggo Mortensen could come in and play Aragorn when the original actor was not working out. I cannot imagine a more perfect Strider/Aragorn/King Elessar.

All my Middle Earth books are illustrated by Alan Lee. His artwork is stunning. I love the art for the Silmarillion

Everyone is saying 'Ready Player One' is amazing, anyone seen it? Amazing? Really? Hmm, opinions certainly differ to me it was nothing more than a bog standard big budget flick with some pretty visuals papering over a thin plot and bland characters edit; that sounds harsher than I meant it to. It’s not awful, but very forgettable and middle of the road imo

I talked Daniel into doing a Fast & Furious marathon with me tomorrow. He lowkey hates those movies, but I love them, like this is genuinely one of my favourite movie franchises. It takes approximately 16 hours to watch all 8 movies in succession, so even if we started early, I don't think we'd actually be able to watch them all in one day. Maybe if we skipped Tokyo Drift, but Tokyo Drift is really good, so probably no ...

oh boy ... So what, they just gonna retcon the fact that in the animated movie, Mulan earned her spot in the army with hard work, perseverance and ingenuity, and just gonna attribute it all to ... magic? And the new male love interest is a bully, who stops being a bully after he learns that Mulan is a hot chick. First they don't include the songs, and now this. This sounds baaad.

To me that "mysterious power" just sounds like the power of belief as opposed to magic. Besides if they're going for a more "realistic" adaptation magic would just be totally out of place. The rest of it though sounds very different to the animated movie. Next they're gonna announce there's no Mushu! Anyway hopefully they won't be browning up their extras in this one

Caught part of the old Western "Two mules for Sister Sara" (1970) on TV last night. I found it highly entertaining, Eastwood and McClaine complement each other well and drive the movie. Some elements are pretty funny, the plot (like most westerns) is not very complicated but still engaging.

I don't get scared easily when it comes to horror movies, but Halloween is the exception. I remember the first time I saw a Halloween movie, I must have been maybe around ten at the time, when I randomly caught Halloween 5 on TV one night (at least I think it was the fifth one, I'm not sure ... I remember a scene where a boy and a girl had sex in a barn and Michael came and killed them, and I think the main protagonist was a little girl). Anyway, it scared the shit out of me. I watched Scream and other slasher flicks when I was fairly young and I was never really botherd by them, but Halloween legit traumatized me. I couldn't even go to the basement by myself for months afterwards, because I was too fucking scared. There's something super unsettling about Michael Myers ... it freaks the hell out of me.
