Have mentioned this elsewhere. If not watching The Expanse you a missing one of the best series on TV right now.
Second season of The Expanse:
I have been watching this , on Amazon (so I don’t have to put up with the ads) , this solar system space opera, it is better than Star Trek ever was (and I love Star Trek). The influences here are really John W. Campbell and verisimilitude of SF prose as it developed in the 40s and 50s.
Season 2 is better than season 1. Can’s say it is perfect , some tap dancing going on, but this stuff is very familiar to old time readers , like me. Been waiting a long time to TV space opera done this well.

It was admittedly confusing a bit at first but I think by the end of season one i was happy with how they had proceeded and slowly untangled the various plot lines. Can't wait for season two, the U.k. doesn't have a date for it yet I don't think

From the show The Expanse. I was most amused by this. Could not find a still of the ship, the Nauvoo is the generation to generation starship built by the Mormons (that’s right) going to Tau Ceti . Two hundred years in the future. I am not going to explain this sequence so it’s not spoiler. Love the ‘angel’ Moroni on the nose of the Nauvoo.
(What is great is that this is from season 2 episode 4 and episode 5 trumped this!)

This show is fucking amazing! It's quickly becoming one of my favorites shows on TV right now, only behind GoT, maybe surpassing even Westworld. I can't believe it's a fucking SyFy original series, major props to them for achieving this level of quality.

Maybe next summer.

Franck has , I think, been one of George's personal assistants. Frank and Abraham are huge fans of modern science fiction prose so most everything one sees derives from the literature as it came into being in 1938 under the editor John W Campbell. The cast is particularity good , I had seen Thomas Jane before, but he really has shined in this show. Watched Episode 6 last night, it kind of suffers after the WOW of episode 5, but this show is so good I really puzzle over the lack of buzz it has.

The Expanse's ratings have now gone up two weeks in a row. I hope so because S2E5 took the air out of the room!

I really enjoyed episode 6, esp the flashbacks to the discovery of the Epstein Drive and the tease at the end of the hybrid creature. Do you think we're going to see the rest of the Mao family since they were mentioned? They are sticking really close to the books so I think we will see at least one of them.

They have a different adaption technique , than GoT, S2E5 was the end of book 1 in the series. If renewed I am sure all main characters will show up. There to be 9 books I think they said they have finished 7 , 8 and 9 on the way, lord that's a lot of material ..... and they say it takes them 8 months to do a book.... and they have George R R Martin as their mentor ... go figure. Harr!

Harr! That makes me shake my head every time I reflect on it, LOL More seriously, I thought they were playing around with the adaptation. In the first season, I was skeptical - they seemed to be playing so close to the books that I thought they would get bogged down but now I think they made the right choice. It really established the show-verse and set the stage for the second season.
